Hercules RMX + Virtual-DJ DJ An outdoor/environmental & travel enthusiast, culinary student, an informal bar tender (as most of his friends ask him to create oozing cocktails on house parties), musician and DJ rolled into one. DJ Raven Asuncion started his love for music when he was young. At the age of 10, he was blessed to know how to play guitar for his past time and also played drums for a band. He believes that this where he developed his keen ear for music. He grew up in Las Pinas (south side of Metro Manila) where there are only few places to go out and party. He had to travel to Makati, Malate, Manila or even Tomas Morato, Quezon City just to party with friends whilst observing the different crowd types and their music. He considers his sister as the person who influenced him to house music. “She would play a mixed-CD at pumping volumes and this usually wakes me up early in the morning. At first, I hated her for doing this but then I learned to appreciate this towards the end” he says. New to the DJing industry, 2009 marks a year when DJ Raven Asuncion decided to chase his dreams and started mixing music for himself and others. He published his fist mixed-CD (split-track, 19 songs) album titled “Club Raven – Volume 1” during a casual private party with friends on August of the same year. During live sets, he loves mixing booty-shaking tribal and dirty house music. DJ Raven can't stand on hearing anticipative music mixes so in order to keep the music flow more robust, he also integrates a selected twist of mainstream house with hip-hop and R&B. “It is always important to feel the vibe of the crowd as this would give you hints on your next track. DJs have tons of music. What you wanted to put out there is something that can make the crowd ask for more” he says. On his free time, DJ Raven loves to create mixed sets and put them on promotional CDs and or publish them on-line. You would hear him spin on private parties or do opening sets during Saturdays for Resident DJs Stone and or Zymon at Obar in Malate, Manila. DJ Raven currently ranks at the 5th place (out of 178 DJs in the Philippines) for the Top Philippine DJs on thedjlist.com website. His musical influences include DJs Kaskade, Paul Van Dyk, Chicane, Armin Van Buuren and Edson Pride. He’s also fond of the Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi - London label.
